Dr. Leslie A. Rivera Rosado is a Supervisory Interdisciplinary Scientist in the Office of Pharmaceutical Quality (OPQ) at FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) and a Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Commissioned Corps. CDR Rivera Rosado has 12 years of regulatory experience at the FDA. As Supervisory Interdisciplinary Scientist, she manages and provides technical oversight to a group of scientists in the assessment of the product quality, pharmaceutical quality, manufacturing process, and pharmaceutical development information submitted in regulatory submissions for biological/biotechnological products. In addition to her supervisory role, CDR Rivera Rosado serves as biological/biotechnological products Drug Shortage Coordinator, involved in the assessment, mitigation, and resolution of biotherapeutic drug shortages. As an officer of the USPHS, CDR Rivera Rosado has deployed in support of various missions including the zika virus outbreak, hurricanes Irma/Maria response, unaccompanied minors at the US/Mexico border, and multiple COVID-19 response missions.
CDR Rivera Rosado earned a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, Cellular, and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. She completed a three-year post-doctoral training program at the FDA and was an Interagency Oncology Task Force (IOTF) fellow (NCI/FDA) prior to joining the FDA review staff.
